Munlai Community Tourism is an unique sustainable and inclusive model where community members and private sector jointly own and operate to provide the travellers an unforgettable experience of culture, heritage, traditional culinary, nature and adventure. We have taken the initiative of social business to ensure the financial well-being of the residents of Munlai through community tourism. With that in mind we present to you SHAWLS OF MUNLAI.
These shawls are hand woven by the residents of Munlai using back-strap loom. The back-strap loom has roots in ancient civilizations. It consists of two sticks or bars between which the warps are stretched. One bar is attached to a fixed object, and the other to the weaver usually by means of a strap around the back. Each shawl portrays a unique story about the Bawm culture & heritage. We are on a mission to deliver these gems of our indigenous culture into our regular fashion culture. We keep no profit from this process. The sale of each shawl contributes directly to the education of the children in Munlai Para. We invite you to be a part of something good. As part of our fair-trade policy, every community member benefits from each product we sell and every traveller that walks in. We invite you to be a part of it.
